Casting Impregnation Sealants
Godfrey & Wing's IMPREX brand sealants are synonymous with vacuum impregnation worldwide. From the original IMPREX formulations in the 1970s to the latest in Thermosetting and Anaerobic methacrylate technology, GW's Imprex sealants continue to lead the industry.
IMPREX sealants are designed to have a low viscosity for effective penetration of microporosity, and to achieve excellent adhesion to the inner walls of porosity, ensuring a robust seal. Patented polyester additives and a unique surfactant allow for the sealants to be washed easily from exterior cavities, taps and surfaces, ensuring sealed and contaminate free components everytime.
All IMPREX sealants are environmentally friendly, containing no toxic substances. Depending on local regulations, effluents may be disposed of without permit in sanitary drains.
Sealing microporosity in cast metal products is the most common application of IMPREX sealants. But in addition to sealing microporosity, IMPREX sealants are also used to seal powdered metal components for pressure retention and to reduce tool chatter during machining.
Manufacturers also use IMPREX sealants to seal the voids within electronic components such as connectors, inter-connectors, over-molded components and wire harnesses. The sealant is engineered to penetrate the voids between the metal leads/wires and the molded plastic producing a complete seal. IMPREX sealants have dramatically improved yields and productivity over the traditional methods of potting.
Our standard sealants, field proven in the most demanding applications over years of use, carry approvals from most global automotive, aviation and defense OEMS. Godfrey & Wing also custom formulates sealants to meet the most unique requirements.
The Godfrey & Wing Difference
While there are many companies that offer sealants, Godfrey & Wing differentiates itself from the field not only through formulating, manufacturing and testing our sealants, but through using them on a daily basis. Our Company owned service facilities impregnate tens of thousands of aviation and automotive components on a daily basis in Imprex sealants—so we know what you face every day, month and year in maintaining your sealants and process.
