Porosity is inherent in the manufacture of castings. With OEM specifications becoming ever more rigorous, this porosity often leads to greater waste, increased costs, inhibited capacity and delayed production.

Production programs, therefore, need to identify areas of concern before porosity issues occur. Because porosity is an internal defect, X-Ray is the best inspection method to measure casting porosity.

Godfrey & Wing works with customers to determine acceptable levels of casting porosity. The company can inspect non-conforming parts, providing images showing the porosity size and location. These images can help customers determine the causes of porosity in manufacturing processes.
