Designed and engineered by Godfrey & Wing to fill a need for direct-coupled casting impregnation within high volume manufacturing facilities, the Continuous Flow Impregnation (CFi) System has become the most effective and efficient casting impregnation equipment in use today.
The CFi system is based on the Dry Vacuum and Pressure (DVP) Process – the most robust in impregnation. The system’s effectiveness is maximized through a philosophy of maintaining a ‘pure’ DVP process. Vacuum cycles work on the part, not the air surrounding the part, resin is maintained in its purest form, not entrained with air or water and the part experiences a significant positive pressure, not just atmospheric pressure.
Recovery and conservation of resin, the most significant cost in impregnation after labor in traditional systems, is used in lieu of recycling. Resin is prevented from entering the plant’s waste stream through efficient recovery, negating the need for the additional equipment and chemicals to process specialty resins. The CFi system maintains the purity of resin maximizing its ongoing ability to seal porosity.
Part handling is a key characteristic in eliminating failure modes caused by the impregnation process. Through automated, repeatable handling, CFi systems are designed to process the most complicated, highly machined parts without risk of damage or contamination. Process integrity, from the incoming hand-off to delivery allows the CFi to outperform other systems.
Godfrey & Wing's innovative approach to casting impregnation, commercialized in our Continuous Flow Impregnation (CFi) system, was featured in the January 2005 issue of Modern Casting magazine.
